Brief Biography of DRA Officers and Board
Joan Korte, President
Joan Korte moved to San Antonio in 1970 when her husband was assigned to Kelly AFB as a test pilot. She served 2 years as a 1/LT in the USAF Nurse Corps. After Her husband's retirement in 1974, they made SA their home and raised their 2 children here. They are members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Joan is a member of the Society of Air Force Nurses, the SA Conservation Society, and the Fiesta Commission. She serves on the TIRZ #27 River North Board, the Riverwalk Capital Improvements Advisory Board, the SA Conservation Society's Neighborhood Liaison Committee and the VIA Project Advisory Committee. She has been a member of the DRA for 15 years, serving in every capacity and holding every office.
Jana Raschbaum, Vice -President
Jana
relocated to San Antonio in 2004 from El Paso, Texas, where she raised
her two beautiful children. She is currently employed by TexStar
National Bank as a Vice President and serves as Chairman and Co-Founder
of Zocolocos, a Downtown Social Club. Jana has un undergraduate degree
in Microbiology from Texas Tech University and Masters in Business
Administration from University of Texas at El Paso.
Joanna Foster has lived downtown for 14 years, right on the River Walk! She and her husband, Jerry, still consider San Antonio's river development second to none.
As a condominium owner Joanna served as president of her condominium association. She later became involved in the Downtown Residents Association where she served as president from l997-l999. That position introduced Joanna to many of the leaders of the city as well as many of the issues facing San Antonio.
Attending numerous and various organizational meetings she served on the design committee for the San Antonio River Oversight Committee, as an appointed member of the SAISD (San Antonio Independent School District) TIF (Tax Increment Funding) committee and, after assisting with the establishing of the Public Improvement District, served on the Centro San Antonio Board for three years.
Joanna has also been a member of downtown's Travis Park United Methodist Church. She has been involved with their outreach to the homeless and has particularly lobbied the city for public restrooms which stay open 24 hours a day. She is currently trying to establish a Neighborhood Advisory committee for the Haven for Hope, the latter promising to be a "world class" center established to transform the homeless from a sense of hopelessness to productive and promising futures. Joanna is serving a second term as secretary of the DRA (Downtown Residents Association).
Fred Preston, Treasurer
Relocating to San Antonio approximately three years ago, Dr. Frederick Preston has already become active in his new community. Currently, serving as Treasurer of the San Antonio Downtown Residents Association, he has also been a class a member of the most recent Masters Leadership Program of San Antonio and Bexar County. Prior to arriving in the Alamo City he served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Stony Brook University (NY) for over 25 years. During that period he also served on numerous boards, including Habitat For Humanity of Suffolk County NY), United Way of Long Island, and United Way of New York State. Among his many award citations are proclamations by the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate recognizing professional excellence and service to higher

Tom DeBrooke
Tom DeBrooke moved Downtown in 1995, well ahead of the current flurry of activity. Tom has been advising company Presidents, Chief Executive Officers, and Corporate Boards since becoming Assistant to the President of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas (Katy) Railroad, immediately following his graduation from St. Mary's University. This followed four years of working as a switchman for the Katy while an undergraduate. Tom went on to serve in a similar capacity in the Chairman's Office of the Pennsylvania (later Penn Central) Railroad. After being awarded the Strathcona-Mt. Royal Fellowship in Transportation, the Penn Central supported Tom while he completed the Yale University Graduate School Masters Degree program. Subsequently, he also earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School while serving in an advisory capacity to United Fruit Company. In his latest CEO assignment endeavor, Tom is serving as the Chairman and CEO of CredibilitySharing, LLC, providing professional, confidential, experienced-based and objective decision-making thinking to select owners, executives, and those in the professions.
Tom is currently Chairman of the City of San Antonio's (COSA) Downtown Advisory Board. He is a Member of the COSA "Destination SA" Oversight Committee; Mayor's China Committee; COSA "The Cultural Collaborative" Implementation Committee; VIA Metropolitan Transit Downtown Circulator Study; Free Trade Alliance San Antonio Board; and, the San Antonio River Oversight Committee. These most recent appointments follow a long history of diverse contributions in a wide range of business, industry trade, community, alumni, service and non-profit organizations.
Joanne Stawicki
Joanne moved to San Antonio in 1981 after attending some college at Buffalo State University and continued her education at SAC and UTSA. She chose to live in San Antonio after falling in love with it in high school when visiting her Mom who also lives here.
She is a graphic artist at Toolbox Studios, Inc. which is a Graphic Design firm located in downtown San Antonio. She has no kids but has 2 cats Shiner Bock and Zima. Shiner is a whopping 27 lb. orange tabby. They love to sit on the balcony overlooking the Riverwalk.
Joanne has lived downtown for the last 6 years and really enjoys the culture and the people who live and work here. And also being able to walk to Fiesta!
Robert J. Potts is President of the Dixon Water Foundation, a private foundation supporting sustainable watershed management. From 2004 through the summer of 2007, Potts was the General Manager of the Edwards Aquifer Authority, a regional regulatory agency created by the Texas Legislature to manage, enhance and protect the Edwards Aquifer -- which spans eight counties in south central Texas, serves as the primary water source for more than one and a half million people, and supports numerous springs in the area (including the two largest springs west of the Mississippi River). From 1993 to 2004, Potts worked at The Nature Conservancy where he held several positions including State Director of Texas and Vice President for the South Central Division, managing the conservation work in Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Potts previously practiced law with the firm of Baker & Botts in Houston where he focused on international and corporate issues. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University in 1984 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1980.
Rosalinda (Rose) and John Bonny
Rose was born in San Antonio and attended Ursuline Academy. After following her husband, John in his military career, she returned to San Antonio in November 2007. Rosalinda is a resident of the Majestic Towers. She serves as a docent and as the correspondence chair for the Southwest School of Art and Craft, Ursuline Academy Museum.
She and her husband are blessed with two daughters, Mariselle Marshall, who lives in San Diego, CA and Denise Bonny Seratte, who lives in Sapulpa, OK.
Rose attended Ursuline Academy and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Management from Park College in Missouri.
She worked for Civil Service in Foreign Military Sales as an Accountant - Retired August 2, 1997 Civil Service (21 Years 10 Months). She then worked for the state of Oklahoma in the Department of Corrections as a Budget Accountant. Retired April 1, 2007 after 10 Years. During her career with Civil Service, Rosalinda was Hispanic Employment Program Manager at Goodfellow AFB, TX for two years.
John made the move to San Antonio with Rose to aid in her escape from Oklahoma City. Payment for years of following him around and starting her career over with each change of assigment.
He earned his degree in Management/Human Resources from Park College.
He served 4 years in the Navy as an air traffic controlman and 29 years in the Air Force. John's Air Force time was divided between electronic equipment repairman (10 yrs) and manpower management (19).
Tony Cantu has owned Audry's Mexican Restaurant since 1980. This family business was established in 1949. He has lived downtown 58 years and has long committed to supporting downtown interest. Specialized in being a supporter of the San Antonio River: Member of SA River Corridor Committee 1982, SA River Oversight committee and Chair of Museum Reach 1999 to present. Lifetime Member SA livestock Show & Rodeo, past member of SA Chamber of Commerce and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, past Board Member and current member of SA Restaurant Association. Founder of Madison Square Neighborhood Association which eventually merged to become part of DRA, member of San Fernando Cathedral. Proudest of all-Graduated Southwest Texas State University 1995.
Joan was born in New York City where she raised 5 children. IShe retired from Sperry Corporation after 15 years as Program Control Supervisor and attended Empire State College, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
Joan moved on to the beautiful San Antonio river in 1992 with my husband, after his retirement, to be near my first Grandchild. IShereturned to work at the Alamo for 12 years as Office Manager. She has been a member of the DRA for 8 years and served on Membership and Planning Committee's.
Candice Griswold
Candice Griswold is a Texas native from Denton, TX and has lived in San Antonio for the last 5 years. Candice received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance/Real Estate from Texas Tech University and studied abroad at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Spain where she studied Finance and International Studies.
Candice started her career in Real Estate in high school as an assistant at Century 21 JudeFite in Denton, TX. After graduating college, Candice lived in Washington D.C. where she worked for Senator Elizabeth Dole. After successful completion of her internship, Candice moved to San Antonio to work for Pulte Homes as a New Home Residential Sales Specialist. She spent 4 years at Pulte and managed Sales for communities all over the city.
Candice left Pulte in 2008 to work for a Real Estate Law Firm, Micah Harper, PLLC. In her current position at the firm, she is in charge of Business Development and Real Estate Consulting. In early 2009 Candice opened a boutique Real Estate Brokerage Firm with her partner Micah Harper. Her company is a luxury residential and commercial real estate brokerage and investment firm focused on San Antonio and surrounding area.
Earlier this year, Candice sold her home in the StoneOak area and moved downtown. She is very interested in supporting new opportunities for San Antonio’s downtown as well as the current resident’s interests.
Candice is a member of CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member-Candidate), CREW, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, SABOR, Real Estate Council of San Antonio and many other San Antonio organizations.
Candice is very motivated and excited about being on the Board for Downtown Residents Association.
