The San Antonio Downtown Residents Association is a non profit corporation,  501 {c}(4), established in 1996. The Officers are elected to a 2 year term; the 12 member Board of Directors, for a 3 year term.

The organization serves its membership by:

1. Researching  issues of particular significance to downtown residents and offering a forum for discussion of these subjects.
   
2. Voicing and directing the concerns and suggestions of downtown residents to appropriate city, county, and state  officials.
   
3. Participating in activities designed to preserve, protect, and develop the downtown area.
   
4. Interacting  with local officials, Downtown  Alliance, Paseo del Rio Association, neighborhood organizations, historic preservation groups, et al.
   
5. To develop an informed vision for the future which respects and builds on the rich multicultural heritage of the city.
